EyeSight™ is Subaru's latest advance in safety technology. Now available on the 2013 Legacy 3.6R Premium and the 2013 Outback 3.6R Premium, EyeSight™ is designed to be like a second pair of eyes helping you watch the road. EyeSight™ has two cameras mounted at the top of the front windshield to recognize potentially dangerous situations and to provide audible and visual warnings to the driver. It can also automatically apply the car's breaks to avoid or reduce the severity of frontal collisions.
Pre-Collision Brake

EyeSight™ is constantly watching the road ahead to recognize potential dangers. When the system recognizes an obstruction ahead, such as a car, truck, cyclist, or pedestrian, the system audibly and visually alerts the driver to the danger. If the driver does not respond, EyeSight™ can apply the breaks itself in an effort to avoid a collision. EyeSight™ is also specifically designed to defer to the driver so it will not interfere if the driver takes evasive action.
Pre-Collision Throttle Management

EyeSight™ can also help keep the driver from accidentally accelerating into an object. If the driver begins to accidentally accelerate into an object in front of the car (such as in stop and go traffic), the system can sense the obstruction and reduce the available acceleration, avoiding
or minimizing the severity of a frontal collision.
Adaptive Cruise Control

As a convenience feature, EyeSight™ has been paired up with Subaru's cruise control to make cruise control smarter and easier to use. Adaptive Cruise Control is designed to give cruise control the ability to respond to the natural flow of traffic. When the driver sets a desired speed with Adaptive Cruise Control turned on, EyeSight™ will regulate the car's speed to keep a set distance away from the car in front.
Lane Sway and Departure

EyeSight™ can also help driver's keep on the road by tracking where the car is in its lane. If the system notices excessive lane swaying or sees that the driver is drifting out of their lane, it will audibly sound a warning to help keep the driver on track.
Lead Vehicle Start Alert

When the car is stopped, EyeSight™ can also help alert the driver that traffic has started moving again. If the driver stops behind another car and doesn't notice when it starts moving, the system will audibly alert the driver to renewed traffic flow.
